Liquid silicone, known as LSR, is widely used in the electrical, electronic, and lighting industries due to its exceptional dielectric properties. This material, inherently insulating and transparent, can be pigmented or compounded to make it conductive. It is particularly used for making insulators on high and medium-voltage direct current transmission lines.
LSR silicone offers excellent stability, not degrading when exposed to weathering or UV rays, and it withstands extreme thermal ranges from -50°C to +230°C.
Silter has extensive experience in producing insulating components, including overmolding with metal or plastic parts. We also offer our know-how during the design phase, working with customer design departments.
A key feature of LSR silicone is its durability and the retention of its elastic properties over time. For these reasons, it is the material of choice for applications requiring repeated compression cycles or continuous stresses, such as switches, membranes, bellows, seals, and gaskets.
Liquid silicone, molded by injection, offers ease of processing, high-volume production, consistent part quality, and the possibility of overmolding with plastic, metal, glass, and other materials.
