The potable water sector shares similarities with the food sector but is subject to specific regulations and certifications, including KTW and WRAS.
Compared to NBR and other vulcanized blends, liquid silicone offers extraordinary durability: it does not degrade and retains its original shape over time.
The best silicone for potable water applications is platinum-cured. Silter uses this type of silicone, known as LSR (Liquid Silicone Rubber). Unlike paste silicones, LSR is already in liquid form, and the silicones used by Silter are certified KTW and WRAS.
In these applications, like food-grade products, silicone components undergo a post-curing process to remove volatile substances. This process involves “baking” in an oven at a specified temperature and duration, and Silter carries out post-curing internally following stringent standards.
Platinum-cured silicone accessories can be used in a wide range of temperatures, from -60°C to 230°C. They are easy to use, clean, non-stick (for easy removal of limescale), and versatile.
LSR silicone is waterproof and resistant to bacteria, ensuring easy maintenance and high hygiene standards. Moreover, platinum-cured LSR silicone is naturally free of bisphenol.
Silter manufactures all its components in its plant in Mellaredo di Pianiga (VE), Italy.
