What is Silicone?

Silicone is a material with a unique combination of physical properties. It has high resistance to weather conditions, excellent electrical properties, resistance to high temperatures, outstanding flexibility at low temperatures, and excellent processability.
It is a product designed with the molecular structure Si-O-Si-O, which gives silicone inert stability and low reactivity.

Hardness 20 to 75 shore/A
Breaking load 6-10 Mpa
Elongation 400-800%
Tear resistance 25-50 kN/m
Compression set 15-25% (22h @ 175°C)
Service temperatures -60°C to +250°C
Volume resistivity 10 Ωcm to 1×10 (at sixteenth) Ωcm
Superior transparency
Odourless and tasteless
In accordance with European regulations for repeated contact with foodstuffs
Easy to colour

Excellent dielectric strength
Typical values 25-35 kV/mm
Excellent arc resistance (4.5 kV)
Can be insulating or conductive

The silicon-carbon bond gives silicones a very high resistance to weathering.
It is not sensitive to the effect of UV radiation.
It resists hydrophobicity over a long period.
